Sarost was founded in 1982, and this year will celebrate its 28th anniversary! It was initially a state-owned company. In 1998, it was privatized and was acquired by the “Toumi Group” along with Seacor Marine. Four years later in 2002 the Toumi Group bought Seacor Marine‘s shares, and is today the main shareholder of the company.
Sarost began as a shipowner, which chartered offshore supply vessels for the oil and gas industry. Today, it continues to offer this service, and operates its current fleet of vessels according to international norms and according to the highest safety and security standards. Sarost plans to enlarge its fleet with the acquisition of two new large vessels before the end of this year.
During the years following its establishment, Sarost developed other marine based services to satisfy the needs of oil and gas companies and other companies operating in the marine sector. In 1984, Sarost developed its under-water activities. This activity has evolved today into a professional “Works Division” with a team of highly trained divers and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) operators, working with sophisticated equipment and capable of accomplishing a large range of subsea works.
Sarost later added a Logistics Division, whose principal aim is to relieve oil and gas companies of logistical headaches and allow them to focus on their core business. Today, Sarost manages the logistics of many Oil and Gas clients and has over 30 000 m2 of yard and office space available near various Tunisian ports.
Sarost’s youngest division is its Engineering Division, which was developed to take advantage of the team’s long experience in the sector and provide underwater surveys and impact assessment studies in association with renown partners.
Sarost considers its human resources as its most important asset. As such, the company has invested tremendously in the training of its personnel and in the establishment of rigorous HSSEQ procedures to offer services which meet high standards of quality while ensuring the safety of everyone involved. It is because of its highly qualified, competent and dedicated people that Sarost today benefits from a strong image and is recognized as a reliable, professional service provider by operators in the field of energy and water.
Sarost is a member of International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). It is certified ISM, ISPS, and Bureau Veritas for its vessels activity, and is certified by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and Bureau Veritas for its underwater survey activity.
